Badge scholarships fund badges for attendees who could not otherwise afford to attend. If you choose the +Scholarship option, we invite you to submit your details to be added to the badge scholarships section of our Sponsors page.

If the cost of a single badge is not in your budget, please don't hesitate to apply for a Badge Scholarship. Thanks to our many generous sponsors, we are continually accepting applications. We don't ask for sensitive financial info, and we don't publicly share the names of our recipients.

Badge Refund Policy

You can request a full refund for your Protospiel Online badge through 11:59pm US Eastern on the Thursday immediately before the event your badge grants access to.

In place of a refund, you may also choose to transfer your badge to an upcoming quarterly event, transfer your badge to a friend, or pass the cost of your badge on to one of our featured charities.

We cannot give refunds for any Protospiel Online badges after the refund deadline.

For example, if you purchased a badge for Protospiel Online January 2021 (January 8-10, 2021) we would grant any refund request you submit on or before Thursday, January 7 at midnight EST. If you submit a refund request for this badge January 8, 2021 or later, we would not grant the refund.

Buying Multiple Badges

If you would like to purchase a badge for one or more other attendees, you have a few options.

Group Discount

Our Large Group Badge Bundle allows you to purchase 10-39 badge vouchers at once for a discounted price per badge. Vouchers purchased through this bundle allow the user to zero out the cost during checkout for a Designer badge. Each voucher is 1-time use and expires 1 year from its issue date.

A note on Playtester badges and the group discount:
Since Playtester badges are discounted 75% as compared to Designer badges, vouchers purchased through the Large Group Badge Bundle are not redeemable for Playtester badges.

>Members of your group who don't plan to bring their own prototype(s) to playtest are welcome to attend under a Designer badge, which includes everything in the Playtester badge plus access to post sell sheets for feedback and make calls for playtesters during the event. We welcome calls for playtests that request small group discussion, brainstorming, or feedback on an idea or design problem for a game not yet built in one of our supported digital prototyping platforms.

If you purchase this bundle, a Protospiel Online team member will send a set of voucher codes to the email address on the purchase record. You can distribute these codes as you like, possibly requesting the recipients pay you back the per-badge cost before you send the voucher code.

Gift Certificate

You can purchase a gift certificate for each additional badge you want to purchase and email it directly to the recipient via the gift certificate checkout process.

Each recipient can use the gift certificate to buy their badge for themselves, which allows them to enter their own details into our registration system and join the Discord server under their chosen account.

Buying a gift certificate will cover a dollar amount you’ll choose from a list of options. It will NOT apply to a specific event, badge type, or lock in a specific badge price. If you choose this option, you’ll need to keep an eye on discount pricing deadlines and make sure the recipient uses the gift certificate in the right pricing window.

Coupon Codes

If you aren’t sure the additional badge recipient(s) will be able to use their gift certificate in the right pricing window, you can buy multiple badges in a row, then send us a message through our contact form to request single-use coupon codes for each badge to pass along to the badge recipients.

Once you share the coupon code(s) with the other recipient(s), they can visit our badges page to add the type of badge you purchased for them to their cart and zero out the cost at checkout. Upon checkout, they’ll get access to the badge registration form, which will allow them to select the Discord account they want to use and get themselves added to the event’s Discord server.
