We are a 3-day, 24 hour, virtual board game playtesting convention run 3x per year. Check out our future dates page to see when we’ll run our next event.
Protospiel Online Core Values
We create all of our events, products, and services with the principles of inclusivity, transparency, and collaboration.
Our goal is to build bridges, not walls. All prototypes are valid. Games are for everyone.
We speak up in the face of harassment or bigotry. All people are welcome. Behaviors that go against these core values are not welcome.
When making decisions, we gather input from diverse perspectives and experiences.
We do what we say and we say what we do. When we make a mistake, we own it and do what we can to correct it.
We set and communicate clear expectations for behavior within our community (as outlined in our Code of Conduct) and support our community members’ efforts to set personal and professional boundaries for themselves.
We work to make the reasons behind our operating policies available to those who want access. See our website’s FAQ for examples.
We believe in working together to grow the board gaming hobby and industry. Big, hairy, audacious goals are more fun to pursue and more likely to succeed when smart, creative, kind people pool resources to move them forward.
We value honest feedback, both during board game playtests at our events and from our community. We receive feedback given in good-faith with gratitude and an open mind. We expect all of our attendees, community members, and partners to do the same.
Protospiel Online is one of many independently organized events in the Protospiel network. It’s headed up by the same lead organizer who hosted the first Protospiel Denver in March of 2020.
Protospiel is a network of board game playtesting conventions where designers can bring games at any stage in their development and get playtesting feedback from other game designers as well as board game enthusiasts. It’s the perfect place to get perspective on your game design from people who understand the hobby board game market and are willing to be honest about your game’s merits and faults in an effort to help you improve your creations.
Protospiels are held in many different locations at different times of the year. You can learn more about how the Protospiel network runs and see dates for all the events in the network at Protospiel.Events.
