We are a 3-day, 24 hour, virtual board game playtesting convention run 3x per year. Check out our future dates page to see when we’ll run our next event.
Protospiel Online Core Values
We create all of our events, products, and services with the principles of inclusivity, transparency, and collaboration.
Inclusivity
Our goal is to build bridges, not walls. All prototypes are valid. Games are for everyone.
We speak up in the face of harassment or bigotry. All people are welcome. Behaviors that go against these core values are not welcome.
When making decisions, we gather input from diverse perspectives and experiences.
Transparency
We do what we say and we say what we do. When we make a mistake, we own it and do what we can to correct it.
We set and communicate clear expectations for behavior within our community (as outlined in our Code of Conduct) and support our community members’ efforts to set personal and professional boundaries for themselves.
We work to make the reasons behind our operating policies available to those who want access. See our website’s FAQ for examples.
Collaboration
We believe in working together to grow the board gaming hobby and industry. Big, hairy, audacious goals are more fun to pursue and more likely to succeed when smart, creative, kind people pool resources to move them forward.
We support each designer in building the games they want to build, finding solutions when obstacles come up, and celebrating milestones both big and small in their games’ development journey.
We value honest feedback. We receive feedback given in good-faith with gratitude and an open mind. We expect all of our attendees, community members, and partners to do the same.
Protospiel Network
Protospiel is a network of independently-run board game playtesting conventions hosted in a wide range of locations. Protospiel Online is the virtual location with 3 events per year. We support an international design community playtesting digital implementations of their prototype tabletop games.
