Game Details

Clash of the Genres has a long history, starting with a group of friends designing a versus game that combined card battling with tile board strategy. The game evolved from its basic format into a battle royale game that supported up to 8 players with 160 cards to draw. A crowdfund campaign was run unsuccessfully, and the game was shelved for almost three years. Fast forward to 2018, COTG was revived and given a more polished feel, with the intent of making it a fun "game night" option for a group of friends or family. Graphical overhauls, rule changes, and personal struggles have all kept the game from making it to Kickstarter. This last build promises to be the closest version to a physical release, and it has come out of the various feedback and suggestions from the playtest community. The original "Kickstarter Release" was to be Spring of 2021, but realistically it may come later this year, or even the start of 2022. Reviews and marketing will have to get interest on the way, as this game has a very small following so far. It is a passion project that will be self-published to the very end, and if it does well will have plenty of opportunity for expansions. Casual:
This game expects players to focus more on social interaction than strategy and/or takes under 45 minutes to play in full, including the rules teach.

Medium:
This game involves some strategy and takes 45-90 minutes to play, with no more than 15-20 minutes of that time spent on the rules teach.

Heavy:
This game focuses on strategy and takes 90 minutes or more to play, with 20 minutes or more of that time spent on the rules teach.
