Eurogame
Though not all eurogames are European and not all of them are board games, they share a set of similar characteristics. A game doesn't need to meet all of these to be considered a Euro, but the more of these qualities it has, the more likely it will fall in that bucket.
- Player conflict is indirect and usually involves competition over resources or points.
- There is very little randomness or luck. When there is randomness, it's more likely to be input randomness (where the player has a limited range of choices to make after a random draw, roll, or pull) rather than output randomness (where the random outcome defines a single option, success/failure).
- The focus is more on the mechanics than the theme.
- There are multiple viable paths to accumulating points and/or winning.
