Badge Scholarship - Protospiel Online

We have created this scholarship to help people attend who could not otherwise afford to. It is made possible by the generous donations of our sponsors.

We do not ask for any sensitive financial information. Applicants’ financial need status is on the honor system, and we respect their privacy. As such, we will not publicly share our scholarship recipients’ names.

Scholarships are limited. As our community members sign on as sponsors, more will become available. We will continue to provide scholarships as we have funding.

Protospiel Online is committed to increasing diversity and inclusion in the tabletop game design community. In the event that budget is an obstacle to attending, we encourage BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and women to apply.

Please Note: Protospiel Online conventions do not include Tabletop Simulator as a supported digital prototyping platform. All attending designers looking to playtest their games will need to use alternate tools. Read our statement about this current policy for more details.

All badge types available through our scholarship allow the badge holder to bring their own games for playtesting according to the Protospiel Golden Rule of giving as much playtesting time to others as they get from the group. Each badge type applies its own symbol and color to the badge holder's display name in our Discord server.

Consider the following when choosing your badge type:
▪️Press: You plan to talk about your experience attending Protospiel Online as a part of your regular content creation.
▪️Publisher: You are either the owner or an employee of a publishing company that does licensing deals with designers and you plan to give advice from this perspective when playtesting for others.
▪️Designer: Neither of the above apply to you.

Designer Badges have a few extra benefits as opposed to Playtester badges:

Make calls for playtesters in our moderated #looking-for-a-game system, during event open hours, according to the Protospiel Golden Rule of giving as much playtesting time to others as you get from the group.

Add your prototype(s) to our website listing to be featured in the Protospiel-eve Prototype Showcase livestream, where we get excited for all the games and people we'll get to spend some collaborative time with over the weekend -- think of your listing(s) more as pages in a photo album than as assignments turned in for critique.

Submit one version of each sell sheet you'd like to request feedback on to be posted in the Protospiel Online Discord server. Moderators and other attendees can use our sell sheet feedback system to send their feedback straight to your registered email address for your private viewing.
